Chapter 1: Understanding the History of America to gain perspective on the current Geo-Political Climate

There are many events that are accruing in the world today that make one wonder where we are headed as citizens of the United States of America and how this change fits into the coming revolution around the world. In order to fully understand where the people of America are headed we must first take a perspective look at our past.

America’s unchecked prosperity for the last half century seems to be coming to an end. America’s world persona seems to be degrading into an imperialistic power forcing its views on those who find themselves in political turmoil. I find that this is not a new development, but rather the climate in which our economy once operated has changed. Therefore, because of this new climate America’s actions are looked upon from a different perspective. When America’s propensity (at the end of the last great depression 1949) began we were once a “super producer” in a world recovering from war. At the same time we entered a new war, the cold war. The combination of these events allowed America to sell a great deal of goods and services to a world in need of our ability to produce quality goods at any reasonable price. As the cold war progressed we began to enter a philosophical war of black and white; which made “non-super powers” chose which great national power they were going to buy both ideas, technology, (although decreasing from the amount just after WWII) goods and services. Because of these circumstances of the last half century this country has developed a hunger for prosperity and consumerism; which can only be satisfied through new markets for American goods continually opening throughout the world.

The development of new economic “super producers” such as china and India have in the recent past begun to out produce the United States of America in more and more products; now reaching into more and more big ticket items such as cars.  This also negatively affects the America’s economy, to the extent that America is not longer the producer we once built our “super economy” on. The changes in the more recent history don’t end there, but rather are being exponentially effected by the now rising costs of energy; and the fear of stagflation.

Demand for energy such as oil, coal, and their by products has grown significantly and in direct proportion to the rising population (and therefore the need for economic growth) in recent years. This is reaching disastrous proportions and the threat is growing. The reason why energy is so important is because it effects (increases) a significant percentage of America’s goods and services; most importantly food.  As a result also effects the inflation of basic needs. This acts much like the starter of an engine which starts a reaction which will increase unemployment, increase the rate of inflation, and raise the FED interest rate.

Now that we have begun to understand where America has been for the last half century, now let us begin to examine how economic politics have affected foreign policy and in turn begun to change America’s place in the new geo political climate. Soon after I will examine the geo political environment as a whole in order to discover where new “super governments” like the European Union must develop because business (in order to survive) is going to a place it has never gone before. I plan to accomplish this and other predictions through the scientific method, developing a hypothesis using available data as well as history as a guide to define, understand, and identify changes to the geo political climate in our world today.
